These ‘anti-war” protests are a sham, plain and simple. Why you ask? Because many of these protestors are not really anti-war. Where were all of the protests in 1994 when a US-led coalition invaded Haiti? Where were the protests when we dropped bombs in Kosovo? Where were the protests when we sent over 400 Cruise missiles into Baghdad and bombed a Sudanese aspirin factory when President Clinton needed to distract us from the impeachment hearings? They were nowhere to be found, despite the similar circumstances that have caused our invasion of Iraq. So whats the difference this time around? You guessed it, there’s a Republican in the White House. On top of that, this Republican president is “illegitimate” according to the left wing. So instead of affecting change in the elections, which was very possible in 2002, the left wing insists on trying to reclaim power by opposing President Bush on almost every one of his policies. I almost feel bad for the Democrats. They are setting themselves up to fail. To paraphrase the man the Democrats fear most, Rush Limbaugh, the only way they can gain any credibility is if the economy completely tanks and we are utterly defeated in Iraq. Neither of those things seems to be happening. So I guess I do feel bad for the anti-Bush bunch. With the way their party is going, the Democrats are almost guaranteeing a second term for President Bush, and maybe President Condaleeza Rice or President Colin Powell in 2008. To these people, that is far worse than Iraqi civilians being fed into a plastic shredding machine, and thats just sad.
