n The article “Professor integrates gay culture into statistics course,” (April 4, p. 1) claimed that, unlike students at Carnegie Mellon University and Harvard University, “Boston University students will not find any . . . classes available” on “alternative sexuality studies.”
In fact, though, such courses are offered at BU in a number of departments. One example is a new topic offered this fall: Sexuality and Subjectivity in Modern Japanese Literature. The course is an introduction to queer theory through the lens of Japanese literature. No knowledge of Japanese is presumed.
