n I was horrified to read this week’s email of upcoming events from the College of Arts and Sciences Office of Programs — specifically, one of the events advertised, the Lebanese Club’s “Hookah and a Movie.”
What was CAS thinking? Promoting the smoking of Hookah is equivalent to promoting the smoking of cigarettes. The health risks of smoking hookah, as were detailed just a few weeks ago in The Daily Free Press (“Hooked on hookah,” April 10, p. 7) are similar to, if not worse than, those of smoking cigarettes. Would CAS have advertised in its email an event encouraging the Boston University student population to go out and smoke cigarettes in front of the George Sherman Union?
I find this mention in the email appalling, disgusting and a complete disregard for BU-student’s health.
