A/B CRIME LOG: Four Armed Robberies Monday, Two Later In Week

The following were taken from last week’s District 14 Allston-Brigton crime reports.

ARMED ROBBERY

Four armed robberies were reported Tuesday, Jan. 29, including one involving a Boston University student who was allegedly mugged after being threatened with a knife. Police were unsuccessful in apprehending a single suspect in any of the four incidents.

Two more armed robberies have been reported since then, including one resulting in the stabbing of an 18-year-old Monday.

Around 12:10 a.m. Jan. 29, the male BU student, who was talking on his cell phone, was allegedly approached by two men in their early-20s at the corner of Chester Street and Commonwealth Avenue.

The suspects allegedly asked the student for the time, which he responded he did not have. The first suspect then reportedly knocked the victim to the ground while the second held him down. As the second suspect allegedly held a silver knife to the victim, the first reportedly took the victim’s necklace, which was later recovered.

The second suspect then allegedly took the victim’s wallet and fled the scene. His partner reportedly demanded the victim’s phone, at which point the victim struck him, causing him to flee the scene as well. Both victims allegedly ran into a nearby alley.

Only minutes later, at 12:22 a.m., police responded to an armed robbery at the Daystop Inn of Boston at 1800 Soldiers Field Road in Brighton.

The suspect reportedly came through the front door of the inn, walked around the counter and displayed a large, silver, semi-automatic handgun.

The suspect reportedly ordered the victim, a 63-year-old man, to retrieve money from the front register and the rear money safe. The suspect allegedly made the victim lay on the floor and place a chair over him before reportedly fleeing the scene in an unidentified vehicle.

Around 5:30 a.m., a man in his early-40s reportedly took $150-$200 at gunpoint from the 7-Eleven convenience store at 2002 Beacon St. in Brighton.

The suspect reportedly approached the counter with a soda before pulling out a silver colored handgun when the clerk opened the register. The suspect allegedly pointed the gun at the clerk and ordered him to hand over the money. The suspect fled on foot.

The final incident that night occurred around 8:35 p.m., when a 26-year-old male approaching the intersection of Western Avenue and North Harvard Street in Allston was allegedly robbed at gunpoint by two men in their early-20s.

The suspects, driving a silver car, pulled up beside the victim while he was walking and reportedly exited the car. The first suspect reportedly asked for money. When the victim said he had none, the suspect allegedly showed him what he believed to be a handgun. The victim then handed the suspect $20, and the suspects allegedly returned to the vehicle and drove off on Western Avenue toward Cambridge.

Police now believe the car to be a silver Lexus, as the car and two men of similar description were seen in the area later that evening. The suspects allegedly approached two teenage men walking down Western Avenue but did not exit the vehicle. The suspects did not show or mention a weapon, but asked the boys if they wanted to get shot.

Around 9 p.m. the next night, two approximately 16-year-old suspects threatened a 19-year-old man with a knife at the corner of Chester Street and Brighton Avenue.

The suspects reportedly asked the victim if he wanted to buy some marijuana, to which he replied that he already had some of his own and asked the suspects if they wanted to smoke. All three walked to an alley behind Brighton Avenue, where the first suspect allegedly pulled out a silver knife and ordered the victim to give him his wallet.

The first suspect reportedly took the victim’s wallet and his bag of marijuana, and both suspects fled the scene toward Chester Street.

Finally, an 18-year-old man was allegedly robbed and stabbed by five men Monday afternoon around 4:10 p.m. in the sixth armed robbery of the week.

The suspects reportedly approached the victim and demanded his money as he walked down Brighton Avenue. A heavyset male then allegedly stabbed the victim in the left shoulder with a kitchen-style knife as the suspects robbed the victim of approximately $500 before fleeing on foot.

Approximately seven to 10 minutes after the suspects’ description was broadcast, two officers saw four men at Highgate Street and Farrinton Avenue. The officers approached the males and asked them their names, where they were coming from and if they had any weapons on them. One of the males said he had a knife in his knapsack. When seizing the knife, officers noticed what looked like blood on the knife and proceeded to read the males their Miranda Rights.

Police arrested Christian Fuentes, 19, of 74 Franklin St. in Allston, along with a 16-year-old, a 14-year-old and a 12-year-old. A fifth suspect is still at large. Fuentes was charged with the stabbing.

The suspects were then brought to the hospital where the victim was being treated for his wound so the victim could identify the suspects. The victim positively identified all four suspects, including the man who allegedly stabbed him. The blood-like substance on the knife will be analyzed in the lab to see if it matches the victim’s.
