Mr. Guillemette ‘ Gay Adoption: Wrong

Mr. Guillemettte ‘ Gay Adoption: Wrong

Seeing that my hometown is Orlando, Florida and one of my family members is part of the management team at Disney World, I would like to correct Mr. Guillemette’s false statement in “Gay adoption is economical(March 31),” that “Disney World… dedicates a full week to homosexuals with the celebration ‘Gay Days in Disney.'” The truth is that Disney does not endorse or sponsor any such event. There does happen to be a week, that is organized by homosexuals, in which a large number of gays choose to visit the parks, but it is not endorsed or acknowledged by Disney, which is and continues to be a family oriented park. It actually generates many complaints from visiting families, in the traditional use of the word “family.” Secondly, I don’t know how Mr. Guillemette came to the conclusion that Florida is “one of the gayest states in the country,” when Florida actually has some of the toughest and most conservative laws concerning homosexuals. I would beg to differ from Mr. Guillemette’s conclusion, and offer that either California or Massachusetts as “the gayest states in the country,” but this is a matter of personal opinion based on the current laws of those states. I do acknowledge that all heterosexual relationships are not perfect. Sometimes a child would be better off being raised by gay parents. But the fact is, that the parent is the most influential role model in their child’s life. Being raised by gay parents, just by mere example, will no doubt make it more likely for the child to choose to be gay. The parents are the ones who shape the child’s beliefs on what is right and wrong, and homosexuality is not natural. Homosexuals must be respected as people, but the Florida Legislature is looking out for the best interest of the children. Our children should not be brought up or encouraged to be gay! Period. “[T]he international black market for babies will be stimulated.” The people responsible for the black market are the people who choose to break the law. Things are outlawed for a reason, and its definitely not to promote black markets. It’s normally because something is wrong or harmful to society. Just because someone thinks something is unjust or unfair, does not give them the right to break the law or form black markets. And if Mr. Guillemette wants to label trade in the black market as an act of civil disobedience, then I guess people who deal heroin can too, right?

Gay adoption: Economically right, morally and socially wrong.
