Inside the Newsroom: The story behind our website troubles

Hello readers! We’d like to take a moment to address the technical issues we have had with our main news website over the past few weeks. As you may know, ever since switching from College Publisher to WordPress at the beginning of the semester, we have been having problems with the website being down. Often our site was inaccessible.

The problems we experienced were due to the fact that we were using a server that was not designed to handle a WordPress website, especially one as complexly designed as ours. Unable to handle the functions of the site, the server provided us with spotty usage.

As a result, we have now switched to a new server that is better equipped to handle our site. However, in the process of transferring the site over, the website had to be taken down for much of last week. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. Now that our site is entirely on the new server, our technical issues should be over and the site should be accessible at all times.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding as we’ve dealt with these difficulties. We hope that you will continue to stick with us for all of your BU and Boston news coverage. As always, your readership is our number one priority.
