President Brown attended meeting with Amazon executives

Boston University President Robert Brown met with Amazon executives when they visited Boston in early March 2018, according to The Boston Globe.

The meeting was one stop on a highly coordinated, day-and-a-half trip organized by city officials to woo the tech giant into building its second headquarters in Boston, according to the Globe.

Also present at the meeting held over lunch at a building in downtown were then-Harvard University President Drew Faust and University of Massachusetts President Marty Meehan.

Brown declined to comment on the meeting in an email to The Daily Free Press.

“As all of these interactions were intended to be private,” Brown wrote, “I will not discuss them.”

Amazon did not ultimately choose the Boston area as the location for its so-called “HQ2,” selecting Long Island City, New York, and Arlington, Virginia, instead.
