Thank God Dean Schulz is gone. This decision is far overdue, and staying in power just into the school year is ridiculous. Why wait until classes are back in session to make this announcement and drag it back into the spotlight? I’m disappointed he is even getting to remain a professor at this university. Having been a part of his “mistakes” personally, I can say this resolution ultimately makes me feel confident again about the school I attend.
The College of Communication, which has been marred with controversial deans since I matriculated here four years ago, needs to find a leader who doesn’t bring along all this baggage. Our industry alone is filled with black marks from journalists who apparently didn’t listen in ethics class. The last thing we need is a dean who chalks mistakes up to a “typos” that should have been fixed. COM is filled with wonderful professors, so why do we have to keep putting up with problematic deans?
