On Sangue Puro, consciously bratty art-rock trio Les Georges Leningrad appears more sincere than on previous albums. At their best, they split the difference between Liars’ recent work and Thunderbirds Are Now! However, Les Georges Leningrad are too smug for the type of middlebrow punk rock they traffic in. For all the affectations of complexity on the album, the guitar lines, use of keyboard and sound effects are extremely simple. That’s not to mention the vocals, which sound like the preschool kid who yelled at the top of his lungs during “quiet time.” Apparently, that toddler grew into a linguist, making ironic, too-loud indie-dance music.
