When was the last time you did something gangsta or even gangster? Lloyd Banks just finished pistol-whipping somebody before recording “Get Clapped” with Mobb Deep, who probably got a couple hits in there, too. What was the last car you bought? Oh, your parent’s old Escort? That’s weak. Banks bought out the whole Ferrari dealership, and then got matching fur coats for each color car; at least that’s what he’d have you believe on “Playboy.” More examples of your lameness (and little else) abound on this lukewarm, disappointing effort. By the end of his sophomore album, Rotten Apple, Banks proves that though he has outstanding potential — sharp wit and superb flow — he has yet to fully ripen. Grade: B
