The B-line rivalry returns to tennis Friday when the Boston University men’s tennis team plays in the Boston College Eagle Invitational this weekend in a three-day tournament. It is the second round-robin tournament of the season for BU, which competes against BC and Assumption College at BC’s Flynn Recreation Complex.
Doubles play for BU starts at 8 p.m. on Friday. At the Assumption College Invitational on Sept. 7 and 8, BU won their first two doubles matches only to lose both matches on the second day.
The Eagles host the Terriers for singles play at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The last time BU played BC, the Eagles won, 7-0, on Apr. 24. The Eagles went 13-9 (6-0 Big East) last spring, but underachieved in the America East Championships.
This weekend’s tournament is the first time BC has played this season. Fatigue may be a factor when they play their afternoon date with the Terriers, since the Eagles play Assumption in the morning.
On Sunday, BU will play Assumption in singles competition at 9:30 a.m. Last weekend, the Greyhounds outplayed the Terriers in singles at the Assumption College Invitational, winning seven of the eight finals in the four-team tournament.
BU had five wins in singles competition last weekend, including victories from seniors Jason Vinoles and Jon Mofsky, as well as junior Geoff Wagner, and sophomores Manuel Bulawtan and Chris Kubbacki. Those players will look to continue their success at the BC tournament.
