The following reports were taken from the Allston-Brighton District D-14 crime logs from April 15-22.
In the early hours of April 19, Boston police met with agents from Massena, N.Y. and a cooperating witness to intervene in a marijuana delivery, suspected to be about 100 pounds.
The witness had been making between two and three trips on foot across the Canadian border each week, crossing unsuspected by Customs officials, because he crossed through an Indian reservation and then continued on to Boston.
At about 3:30 p.m. later that day, police spotted the cooperating witness’s delivery vehicle parked at the corner of Commonwealth and Harvard avenues. After 10 minutes, a suspect got in the car with him, and they continued to a residence on Hardwick Street. Once inside, the suspect removed several bags of marijuana from the trunk of the car and gave the witness a sealed box containing $400,000, with which he was supposed to return to Canada.
By observing people enter the residence during the next few hours, police collected what they deemed was enough evidence to obtain and execute a search warrant for the house, and they then entered and arrested all parties inside.
Officers collected more than $100,000 and nearly 100 pounds of marijuana in six large, green garbage bags, as well as a triple-beam scale, personal papers and a 2003 Audi.
After obtaining a second search warrant, police collected almost 25 additional pounds of marijuana, large amounts of uncounted money and designated multiple cars to be towed. The home was secured just before 11 p.m.
NICE GUYS FINISH LAST
A female complained to an officer around 3 a.m. April 22 of a group of males fighting on the corner of Gardner and Chester streets. The officer discovered an unconscious male on the ground, as a group of about 10 males fled the scene down Gardner Street toward Alcon Street.
Witnesses had conflicting accounts of how the fight started. The victim’s friend said he and the victim intervened in an argument in which a male was swearing at a female. One of the suspects said the victim and his friend had been throwing objects at him before he punched the victim in retaliation.
Paramedics brought the victim to consciousness, but when they advised him he needed medical attention, he adamantly refused care. When officers returned to the station, they contacted his mother to inform her of his injuries in hopes she could convince him to seek medical attention.
FAULTY LANDING
Police responded at 12:30 a.m. April 22 to reports of a disruptive party on Corey Road in Brighton and, upon arrival, observed a victim face down in the driveway. Witnesses at the scene said the victim had jumped from a three-foot retaining wall onto the asphalt. The officers attempted to wake the intoxicated victim, who was unresponsive and later taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for non-life-threatening related injuries.
Officers ordered out 10 of 12 people from the second-floor apartment, all of whom were of age but did not live at the apartment. Residents were warned arrests would result from any further complaints.
