When it comes to playing at home this season, the Boston University softball team is 0-for-4. The catch is that the Terriers (12-19) haven’t even played a game at the BU Softball Field so far this spring.
That goose egg hasn’t come against other teams, but after BU had its three-game set against the University of Vermont – originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday – postponed this past weekend, it marked the fourth time since mid-March that the Terriers’ home opener has been either canceled or postponed. The team’s series with the Catamounts has been “tentatively rescheduled” for April 21, according to the Vermont athletics website.
The Terriers were scheduled to open up play on Ashford Street three separate times this season, first on March 21 against Harvard University, then on March 24 against the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and finally on March 31 in a doubleheader with Quinnipiac University. But like it did this past weekend, rain left BU’s field in unplayable conditions.
Only BU’s matchup with UMass, now set for April 12 at 3 p.m., has been rescheduled. The Terriers next play at Hofstra University Tuesday at 3 p.m.
