City Crime Logs: Mirror, mirror, on the car

The following crime reports were taken from the Allston-Brighton District D-14 crime logs from Jan. 18 to Jan. 24.

Mirror, mirror on the car

Last Wednesday, a 22-year-old male left his Brighton apartment at approximately 7:30 a.m. and found that someone had stolen the passenger side mirror to his black 2010 Mazda sedan. He had parked the car at Commonwealth Avenue and Foster Street the day before.

Early bird special

At about 8 a.m. last Wednesday, a female pedestrian, age 42, was struck by a car at the intersection of Washington Street and Market Street in Brighton.  The victim stated the vehicle that hit her was a brown, older model Toyota Corolla and was driven by an elderly white female. The driver pulled over after hitting the victim and asked if she needed help. The victim told the driver to pull over and said she was calling the police, which spurred the driver to flee. The victim, when hit, injured her leg and was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center for her injuries. One witness said she was not sure what color the traffic light was when the accident occurred. Officers searched for the suspect to no avail.

Did somebody order a pizza?

Last Wednesday at 8 p.m., a pizza deliveryman arrived at 25 Gerald Rd. in Brighton. The 27-year-old male victim told police that when he knocked on the door, a goateed man opened it. After arguing about the $2 delivery fee, the goateed man sent a text message. Shortly after, another man, brandishing a chinstrap beard, a Bruins cap and a red jacket, came down from the apartment and approached the deliveryman with a pocketknife, slashing him in the left arm two times. The victim seemed “somewhat impaired” and kept changing the details of his story, according to the police report. The inhabitants of 25 Gerald Rd. told police there was no such incident with the driver and they gave the victim money for the fee before he drove off.
What a mess

Last Thursday, a 23-year-old woman reported to police that sometime between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., someone came into her apartment at 124 Sutherland Rd. in Brighton through a window. The person had apparently rummaged through her apartment and belongings but did not take anything. A building maintenance worker told police building contractors were working in the courtyard throughout the day and the apartment windows are accessible from the courtyard garden.

Punch buggy

At about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, a 22-year-old female and a 19-year-old female student got into an argument with their taxi driver near 1 Brighton Ave. in Brighton. At the end of the ride, the driver refused to let them exit the cab. When both females got out of the cab, the driver got out to confront both victims. The cab driver punched one of the women. When the other woman assisted her friend, the driver pushed her down before entering his taxi and fleeing in an unknown direction. The victims declined medical attention at the time and police did not find the cab driver.
