Woman hits MBTA bus by BU Bridge

A woman hit the back of an MBTA bus while biking near the Boston University Bridge, an MBTA spokesman said.

The woman was taken to St. Elizabeth’s hospital with arm injury and back pain, spokesman Joe Pesaturo said in an email.

College of Communication sophomore Sophia Aronne, who was on the bus, said the incident occurred at about 4 p.m.

“I heard a guy yelling from inside the bus “no, the bicycle’ or something like that,” she said. “At that point we were right near the BU Bridge. The bus stopped and we all just looked out the windows.”

Aronne said although she couldn?t see the woman well, others on the bus witnessed the accident from up-close.

“This girl seemed really upset because I think she saw it all,” she said. “She was sitting right by the window. No one knew what to do. People started getting off but almost everyone stayed to crowd around the bus, people seemed really worried for her.”

Brandon Syms, a College of Arts and Sciences junior, said he was going to a doctor’s appointment at about 4 p.m. when he witnessed the accident.

Syms said the bus driver seemed

“very angry at the passengers” and “raced across the bridge.”

“I didn’t believe it because I’ve always been wondering how someone gets hit by the T,” he said in a message. “I was completely shocked.”
