Athletics for All: BU club sports

While BU does carry a prestigious Division I tradition, it also offers the opportunity to compete at the club sports level.

Here are some of the club sports available for BU students:

Baseball: The BU baseball club plays in the New England Club Baseball Association in the Central Division. They play host to schools such as Northeastern University, Tufts University, College of the Holy Cross and Emmanuel College.

Cricket: The BU cricket club is one of the founding members of American College Cricket and plays in the organization’s tournaments. BU competes in both recreational and competitive matches against local schools such as Harvard University and Northeastern.

Figure Skating: The BU figure skating club is a nationally-ranked, intercollegiate team composed of skaters of all disciplines, including Freestyle and Ice Dance.

Golf: A year-round athletic group, the BU club golf team competes in tournaments over the weekends and practices on weekdays.

Men’s Ice Hockey: The BU men’s ice hockey club competes in the Patriot East Division of the Northeast Collegiate Hockey Association. From October to March, these Terriers travel throughout the Northeast playing league and non-league opponents at Hockey East-caliber rinks.

Kung Fu: The BU kung fu club allows participants to explore a multitude of Chinese martial arts.

The club is recreational and instructional, and it hosts demonstrations at Student Activities Office functions as well as numerous Asian performance festivals.

Men’s and Women’s Rugby: The BU men’s and women’s rugby football clubs compete in a variety of tournaments and league matches. The men’s team plays in the Division II Northeastern Collegiate Rugby Conference. Meanwhile, the women’s team resides in the Division I New England Rugby Football Union.

Snowboarding: The BU snowboarding team allows students of all levels to participate in meets from November through April. Because the team is affiliated with the United States of America Snowboard Association, members get the chance to compete in events in the Southern Vermont Series.

Men’s Soccer: With 26 players on the BU men’s soccer club representing 11 different countries, the team is one of the most prestigious in the region. It currently competes in the New England Premier League.

Women’s Synchronized Swimming: The BU synchronized swimming team competes against both club and varsity teams in the U.S. Collegiate Synchronized Swimming Association of the ECAC Conference.

Men’s and Women’s Ultimate: The BU men’s and women’s ultimate clubs compete all year in local, regional and national tournaments. Both the men’s and women’s seasons begin in September and end after the Ultimate Player’s Association’s College Championship Series in May.

Men’s and Women’s Volleyball: The BU men’s and women’s volleyball clubs compete in a variety of intercollegiate tournaments through their respective leagues. The women’s team is in the Northeast Women’s Volleyball Club League, while the men are affiliated with the New England Collegiate Volleyball League against teams like the University of Connecticut, Boston College, the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and the United States Military Academy.

These constitute a portion of the club sports available to undergraduate students at BU. Additionally, BU offers a multitude of intramural sports for all seasons, ranging from floor hockey to wiffleball.
