In a news story Wednesday (“Senate pushes for study abroad,” Feb. 20, p. 3) BU International Programs and Operations Director Philippe Pavillard’s comments on study abroad program expansion were misrepresented due to an editing error. Pavillard did not comment on BU’s bid for a campus in Qatar, which did not involve BUIP, but discussed other programs in development.
In a news story Tuesday (“Gay marriage mixes politics, institution in Pa.,” Feb. 19, p. 1) it was misstated due to an editing error the percentage of couples living in Pennsylvania that are unmarried and same-sex. The 2000 census data finds .8 percent of coupled households are unmarried and same-sex. Also due to an editing error it was misstated the number of states that ban same-sex marriage. Twenty-six states currently have same-sex marriage bans.
In a news story Thursday (” USC students’ demand for condom dispensers denied,” Feb. 14, p. 3) BU spokesman Colin Riley’s comments were misstated due to an editing error. Riley did not comment on whether BU needs in-dorm condom machines. He only pointed out many places on and near campus that sell condoms.
In a news story Thursday (“For some consumers, Fair Trade chocolate a bit sweeter,” Feb. 14, p. 1) the name of a fair trade foods company was misstated due to an editing error. Equal Exchange sells fairly traded chocolate, coffee and other products.
