Today I happened to glance over the shoulder of a friend and see an article on the CRASH B’s (World Indoor Rowing Champs) that were held last weekend at Agganis. However, as a member of the Women’s Rowing Team I was not very pleased to see absolutely no coverage of our team at all. Yes, the men may have had 8 make it into the top 50, and congrulations to those who did, but please don’t forget us 6 Terrier women who also made the top 50 in the Open Women category. Just because it is Open Women does not make it any easier for us than it is for the men. And another thing, why does it take nearly an entire week for our sporting results to be published? Especially when it was held basically across the street from the freep office and for once there is no unpleasantness of having to endure the freezing cold to watch us compete. We may not be the men’s hockey team or men’s and women’s basketball teams but both men’s and women’s rowing teams are still division 1 teams. We work just as hard in our training and compete against some of the best schools in the nation within our own league. In future, please consider the efforts of some of the less well known teams and help keep the students of BU clued into the performances off all the teams as there are many division 1 teams at our school, not a select 3 or 4.
