The following reports were taken from Allston-Brighton’s District 14 crime logs from March 3 to March 12.
Three men, one unidentified, threatened a Cambridge man and an Allston woman twice with a gun last Wednesday night — once outside a Super 88 Market at 1099 Comm. Ave., and then a second time as the two parties met in their cars at the corner of Linden St. and Cambridge St. in Allston.
Police searching the area found two of the men involved in the incident, and arrested both Ra Chan, 28, and Jason Turner, 22, at a nearby intersection.
According to the victims, Chan, Turner and one other assailant approached the man and woman and began shouting threatening comments at the woman.
When the man shouted back, the man who originally made the threat lifted his shirt to reveal a handgun.
The two victims immediately ran to their car and drove off. As they stopped at the intersection of Linden and Cambridge streets, however, Chan rolled down his window and leaned out pointing his gun at both the victims. They quickly backed down Linden Street.
As police units patrolled the nearby area, a witness stopped Officer Harrigan and told him he saw a frightened Asian man run into an auto body shop and drop his gun underneath a van.
The victims positively identified the two men as the attackers.
Costly warning
The Allston-Brighton Police Department issued a warning to Allston residents about a wave of break-ins in the Allston area and called for permanent resident and student cooperation in preventing the break-ins two weeks ago.
In the wake of the announcement, an Allston woman returned home Saturday, Mar. 4, to find her apartment at 72 Gardner St. ransacked and over $2,000 of her valuables stolen.
The woman discovered both her and her roommate’s rooms torn apart and found her wallet, including credit cards, a DVD player and $1,000 worth of jewelry missing.
One of her neighbors was waiting inside when she arrived and told her that he came to investigate since his apartment was robbed earlier in the week.
Artful dodgers
Two Brighton men robbed a convenience store at 140 North Beacon St. on Friday night, March 3, with a 12-inch long kitchen knife.
Police arrested John Brennan IV, 16, and Robert Coleman, 26, for stealing $4,000 from a Quality Mart.
After the two entered the store, Coleman took a long kitchen knife out of the front-pocket of his hooded sweatshirt and waved it at the two clerks, demanding money.
Once the store clerks removed the register drawers and handed them to Coleman, the two men ran out while one of the store clerks chased the assailants until the two jumped into a black Dodge Intrepid and escaped.
Brennan and Coleman arrived to Brennan’s home where his father, John Brennan III, 34, who later gave his account to the police, disposed of his son’s clothes, throwing them in a nearby dumpster.
