Last night I received a BU Emergency Alert about a suspicious package near the Citizens Bank in Kenmore square. And to be quite honest, I am pleasantly surprised. Last May Mugar Memorial Library was evacuated because of a bomb threat and what did we get? Nothing. No e-mail, no text, no Facebook message. . . nothing. What is going on here? BU spent all the time and money investing in the Send Word Now program last year in the wake of Virginia Tech, yet they didn’t alert one person. If there was ever a time to inform the student body, I think a bomb threat during finals week in the center of campus would certainly qualify. It was another gaffe by the administration to protect the safety of its students. Is the adminstration committed to the safety and well-being of the students and the entire BU community, or did they just want my cell phone number?
