Between more ridiculous Speidi antics on “The Hills,” CW’s onslaught of trashy fall television and yes, another Britney comeback, it’s been a big week in the world of pop culture.
1. “I can’t make you un-my sister.”
Hills villain Spencer Pratt expressed his disdain for younger sister Stefanie’s budding friendship with nemesis Lauren Conrad. After an awkward run in between Speidi and L.C. ‘ Co., Pratt decided to confront his little sis over her 22 years of “disrespect.”
2. “90210” 2.0
Shameless publicity plugs in every magazine and TV network is probably what brought ginormous ratings to the CW’s latest teen drama. Whether the show will have longevity remains unknown, but the trashtastic cast – featuring alums Shannon Doherty and Jennie Garth – is off to a scandalous start.
3. Russell Brand
In an attempt to revive the constantly plummeting VMA ratings, MTV pulled in this relatively unknown British funny man to host the show. Brand’s most notable performance was in this year’s “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” in which he played a Speedo-wearing popstar. Speaking of popstars…
4. Comeback Part Deux
After much speculation, Britney Spears confirmed that she will be appearing at this weekend’s VMAs. Whether she’s performing is unknown, but at least we know she’s got a new weave and bangin’ bod. Nothing can shock us into oblivion more than last year’s disaster.
5. “That motherchucker!”
Another season, another batch of designer clothes and another batch of corny line deliveries. Blair said this whammy while complaining to on-again, off-again BFF Serena about the notorious Chuck Bass. Keep it up, B! XOXO.
6. Sarah Palin gracing the cover of every gossip rag
Who knew a potential VP could be as juicy of a read as the new baby mamas in Hollywood. Thanks to her newborn and grandchild on the way, the Alaskan Governor’s lifestyle seems more suited for Page 6 than the White House.
7. A new cycle of ANTM
Tyra’s model fest has now gone into the double digits. After featuring girls with such issues as female circumcision, this season she is spicing things up with a transgendered contestant. We can’t wait to see what she’s got planned for her next cycle. A pregnant man? Oh wait, Oprah got to that first.
8. Lohan taking to the blogs
An unemployed Lindsay Lohan has been taking to the blogosphere – writing about everything from ice cream to politics! When she’s not responding to comments made by her father, she has plenty to say. “so, samantha and i are looking for DIXIE CUPS… does anyone remember them???” Lohan wrote, following up with a political blog on which she voiced her concern for”world issues.”
