I appreciate your recent coverage of Common Cause’s efforts for re-districting reform in Massachusetts. While many students followed and participated in the recent Presidential election, it is important that we are also aware of local politics, as most of us spend a significant portion of the year in Boston. Whether or not we are aware of it, as students we are affected by the decisions Massachusetts politicians make, which means that we need to take an interest in how they are elected. I wanted to point out that many BU students have welcomed Common Cause’s invitation to get involved. Members of the BU Democrats have worked to collect signatures, while other students such as Kacey Morgenheim (LAW 2007) and I have interned in the office. This represents a great chance for students to really get involved in a political campaign and see the direct impact that they can have. Even if you just want to sign a petition, we would love your help and participation. To get involved email [email protected]. For more information check out www.commoncause.org. Thanks again for your great coverage! Kelly Hendry CAS 2007 Common cause intern [email protected], (443) 956-2967 *Please do not publish phone number!! (I assume you wouldn’t, but wanted to make sure)
