Blogs, when taken seriously and written with the foundations of good journalism — mostly, writing the truth and backing it up — intact, can be invaluable faucets from which supplementary information may flow. But to do this, an honest blog must earn the trust of its readers, as blogs are always at risk of becoming rants to be taken as seriously as the Sunday comics.
In sports it’s a little easier. By nature the field is more casual and therefore more opinion makes its way into both print and online stories. This creates a smaller distinction between venues than there should be.
What this blog is, and what we will try to give you as beat writers with access to their teams, is a water cooler for insight and details. Which players have drastically altered their shots? Which players added the most muscle in the weight room? Who are the unsung heroes? What pieces need to fall in place for postseason success?
As we follow each storyline, we’ll do our best to fill you in and tell you all you need to know about your Terriers.
