Boston University has ended its relationship with Papa John’s Corporation, officials said.
Beginning Dec. 21, students will no longer be able to use BU Dining and Convenience Points to pay for Papa John’s pizza delivery orders, Executive Director for Auxiliary Services Marc Robillard confirmed.
Papa John’s made the decision to cut ties with BU, Robillard said.
“BU did not end the relationship with Papa John’s,” he said. “Papa John’s initiated the ending … It wasn’t our call, it was their call.”
The company’s decision to no longer accept Dining or Convenience Points was most likely due to the low volume of business Papa John’s was receiving from students using Dining or Convenience Points as a form of payment, Robillard said.
“We have two pizza delivery companies that take dining points and convenience points,” he said. “One is Domino’s, and the other is Papa John’s. Papa John’s did not believe that they had enough volume [of delivery orders] to justify the relationship anymore.”
Auxiliary Services Vice President Craig Hill sent out an email to students Thursday afternoon to announce that Papa John’s would no longer be accepting Dining or Convenience Points.
Domino’s Pizza will continue to accept Dining and Convenience Points as payment for deliveries. Students can continue to place orders online or over the phone for the Fenway Domino’s locations at 1260 Boylston or the Allston Domino’s Location at 450 Cambridge Street.
