Two is company. Three’s a crowd.
With this in mind, the Boston University softball team decided to skip its trip to Hempstead, N.Y., this weekend to participate in the Hofstra Invitational. Rather than become the third wheel between a date with Boston College and Hofstra University, BU stayed behind due to the early morning rain on Saturday.
Even though the Terriers lost their chance to take on their cross-town rival Eagles, the mini-weekend vacation may just be what the team needs to recover from its abysmal start to the season. BU’s road trip to North Carolina, Georgia and California during the past month has produced only three wins, and as it returns to Boston, the team is in the midst of an eight-game losing streak.
BU will look to snap out of its early-season funk this week when it travels to the University of Rhode Island on Thursday and Brown University on Sunday for a pair of doubleheaders. The Terriers will have to wait until March 27 for their first home game of the season, when they take on the Huskies of the University of Connecticut.
