When Andrew Dorman was invited to the Major League Soccer Player Combine to try out in front of general managers and coaches from each of the 10 MLS teams back on Dec. 4, he told The Daily Free Press that he was “going to go for it.”
Well, the senior midfielder for the Boston University men’s soccer team certainly has. Of the 54 players invited to attend the three-day workout at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., BU’s all-time career assists leader (37) was one of only nine players “mentioned as having made good impressions on the first day,” according to an MLS press release.
The combine, which started on Sunday, Jan. 11 and ran through Tuesday, provides a stage for some of the country’s top college talent for the upcoming MLS SuperDraft, set for Friday, Jan. 16 in Charlotte, N.C.
If drafted, Dorman would become the 10th Terrier to join the professional ranks. This past season, after earning All-New England honors for the third straight season and finishing fourth in the country with 0.75 assists per game, the Wales native set the all-time Terrier assists record in his final regular-season game at Nickerson Field on Oct. 29.
Dorman could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.
