We are disappointed in Elise Polaner and Josh Katz for going so far as to personally disparage Isaac Betesh regarding his suggestions to fight theft (“Laptop security is a personal, not university, responsibility,” Nov. 9, p. 5). Unfortunately, Boston University’s campus is often characterized as an apathetic environment. Whether one agrees with Betesh about where the responsibility for preventing theft should fall, he or she should value Betesh’s input and appreciate his efforts and the efforts of all others who actively try to improve our university, instead of mocking them. By any chance, do Polaner and Katz have some constructive ideas to offer?
