Stress ReLeaf: Obtaining Calm with Tea

BU students can join Student Wellbeing in the ancient practice of gong fu cha — making tea with skill. At the LGBTQIA+ Student Resource Center, Student Wellbeing hosts a weekly workshop working with tea as a conduit for achieving mindfulness and calm. Admission is free, and students can pre-register on the Student Wellbeing website.

Covet Consignment holds a $5 bin sale the last Wednesday of every month at each of their four store locations: Beacon Hill, Back Bay, South Boston and the South End. Show up when store hours begin at 10 a.m. for a large selection of consigned clothing, shoes and accessories.

Boston’s Institute of Contemporary Art has free admission every Thursday night through Dec. 18. Highlighted exhibitions through January include the works by African artist Portia Zvavahera, whose colorful paintings play with animals, dreams and the Indigenous Shona and African Pentecostal faith in which she was raised. Tickets are available to reserve at 10 a.m. day-of.
FensFest at the Fenway Victory Gardens
Saturday, Sept. 27, from 11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m., 1200 Boylston St.
Attend FensFest, a celebration of community and gardening where attendees can enjoy live music, food trucks and the fall day, located in the Fenway Victory Gardens. The Fenway Victory Gardens are the only remaining World War II victory gardens in the United States, part of a nationwide movement by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to bolster self-sufficiency over wartime. Today, FVG’s mission is to provide a chance for the people of Boston “to work outdoors, enjoy green space, and work with nature.” Admission to FensFest is free for all.
Lantern Show at the Franklin Zoo
Every night 6 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. through Sept. 30, 5 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. Oct. 1 – Nov. 2, 1 Franklin Zoo Rd.
Before the weather gets too cold, stop by the Franklin Zoo for their semi-permanent “Boston Lights: Lantern Experience.” Once the sun sets, visitors can wander through forests, tunnels and under-the-sea scenes and gawk at animals — real and diverse alike — that come to life as illuminated Chinese lantern sculptures. Non-member tickets are $24.95. Last entry for the zoo is 9:30 p.m., and tickets can be purchased on the Franklin Zoo website.
