The following reports were taken from Allston-Brighton’s District 14 crime logs from Oct. 16 to Oct. 22.
At approximately 4:20 a.m. Saturday Oct. 21, after an intoxicated man was denied entrance into a taxi cab, he repeatedly tried to punch the driver and missed each time.
The suspect then approached a car, driven by a 20-year-old Boston University junior, that contained three other 20-year-olds, including two other BU students.
When the driver, who was stopped at a stoplight on Commonwealth Avenue, refused to give a ride to the 24-year-old man, the suspect again swung wildly at the driver.
Although the victim was able to deflect many of the punches, he said some hit him, including one on his ear.
In order to avoid the flurry of punches, the victim started to drive away but hit a car parked next to him. Both cars suffered significant damage.
When officers arrived at the scene, they were met by BUPD and observed the suspect kneeling in the road.
The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct.
WOMAN SLASHED
An anonymous caller reported a violent domestic dispute in progress in an Allston Street apartment Friday Oct. 20 at approximately 3:15 p.m.
The caller told police she heard a man yelling and a woman crying. She admitted that she had heard a man in the apartment threaten to kill the woman in the past, but she did not take any action.
A large group of officers responded to the call and secured the apartment.
Officers knocked on the door and declared their presence but were met with no response. For 10 minutes, the officers heard movement inside and continued to knock on the door, but failed to get a response from inside the apartment.
Again, officers spoke to the caller who said she heard the victim yell, “Don’t slice me.”
Finally, the suspect answered the officers but refused to open the door. Officers warned the man of the severity of the call and warned him that if he did not open the door, they would force it open.
When the suspect heard this he responded, “Do what you have to do.”
After the officers kicked the door in, the man still would not leave the apartment. The woman was found hiding behind a blood-stained couch.
The suspect was arrested for assault and, while in the squad car, he continuously slammed his head into the plexiglass barrier that separates the officers from the detainee.
When officers removed him from the car and brought him into the station, he purposely banged his head into the gun locker.
The victim was also arrested for two warrants.
BAD MONEY
At approximately 5 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 18, a 50-year-old man used counterfeit money to purchase a flea collar from the Petco Pet Supplies in Allston.
The suspect used a 20 dollar bill to purchase the collar, then asked for change for another 20 dollar bill.
Later, when the manager checked the cash registration, he noticed the two bills felt different from the rest of the cash in the drawer.
After checking the money for authenticity by using a money marker, he discovered the money was counterfeit because the mark remained on the bills.
The bills were turned over to police who believe the suspect is the same man who used two counterfeit bills at the store a week earlier. Officers advised the store to inform them if the man returns.
