The Boston University field hockey team looks to continue its winning ways tomorrow afternoon when it takes on the College of William and Mary at home on MIT’s Jack Barry Field.
BU is coming off a thrilling 2-1 victory over the University of Massachusetts at Amherst on Aug. 31. Junior forward Lindsey Domers broke a 1-1 tie in the 50th minute against the Minutemen, and the Terriers held on for the win. Junior midfielder Celeste Hubbard also had a goal in the game. Susan Harrington made seven saves in net.
Next on the schedule for the Terriers was Quinnipiac University. BU easily won that game by a score of 7-1. Domers scored two goals, including the game winner, and six different Terriers scored in the game.
William and Mary is a team that has lost two heartbreaking games in as many tries.
The Tribe’s first game was a 3-2 overtime loss to Kent State University on Aug. 31, in which the team held a 2-0 lead into the second half. Kent stormed back, scoring twice in regulation to tie the game. The Golden Flashes’ comeback was capped when Tess Meuleman scored on a penalty stroke just 32 seconds into overtime.
William and Mary’s second game was a 1-0 loss to Michigan State University on Sept. 1. The game was held at a neutral site and was a scoreless tie until Annabet Beerman scored the game’s only goal in the 66th minute of action.
Though William and Mary is 0-2, it has given up only four goals in two games.
BU hits the road for three contests following tomorrow’s game. The Terriers play Boston College on Wednesday before heading to the University of Maryland for two games.
