ARMED ROBBERY
On Thursday, Oct. 17, at 2:30 p.m., Brighton Police responded to a hold-up alarm at the Sovereign Bank at 30 Birmingham Parkway. A teller told police the suspect — a black male, 5’9″, with a muscular build and a goatee, was wearing a blue long-sleeve T-shirt and blue jeans. The suspect came to her window and handed her a note demanding money. The note allegedly stated the suspect had a gun. The teller reportedly gave the suspect an unknown amount of money, after which he allegedly fled the scene in a 1998 or 1999 gold Ford F-150 pickup truck with a raised rear end.
ATTEMPTED BREAKING AND ENTERING
Police responded to an attempted break-in at 59 Goodenough St. last Saturday, Oct. 19, around 8:30 p.m. Officers found four teenage males hiding on the front porch who were reportedly wearing red bandanas, supposedly signifying membership in the Bloods street gang. The suspects had allegedly been involved in a confrontation with the occupants of a blue pickup truck that fled the scene as police arrived.
Police released the four suspects, as no evidence of a crime could be attained. Before leaving the scene, the officers reportedly noticed the blue pickup truck had returned to the scene. A check of the truck’s license plate number revealed it to have been stolen on August 20.
While investigating the stolen pickup, police noticed its earlier occupants leaving the scene in a red Ford LTD. The officers stopped the Ford and found the driver had a suspended license for non-payment of a moving violation. When questioned about the pickup truck, the driver reportedly claimed it was his and stated he had borrowed the plates until the vehicle could be sold.
Police arrested the driver, Jaime Rey, 21, of 71 Faneuil St. in Brighton, and charged him with driving on a suspended license and receipt of stolen property. Both vehicles were towed.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
On Sunday, Oct. 20, at around 1 a.m., police responded to a report of a loud party at 303 Summit Ave. According to a police report, several college-aged people were found drinking beer from keg cups, with loud music playing from open windows that could be heard from several houses away. Further investigation revealed a tapped keg, full bar with bartender and people playing drinking games.
Police reportedly investigated similar complaints at this address several times before and warned the residents to stop throwing raucous parties disturbing the peace of the neighborhood. Three floors of the house were cleared and police reported between 70 and 80 people were in the house at the time.
Noah Farr, 19, was arrested for disturbing the peace and keeping a disorderly house. He was reportedly the only person who would admit to living in the house at that time. Fifteen to 20 people then allegedly congregated at the corner of Summit Avenue and Allston Street.
Police observed a second suspect, Jared Merves, 20, also of 303 Summit Ave., grab two unknown men from behind and scream “I will end your [expletive] lives,” among other threats. Merves was arrested at this time for disorderly conduct. Both suspects will be charged with disturbing the peace and keeping a disorderly house.
THEFT
This past Friday, Oct. 18, at about 5:40 p.m., police responded to a call reporting a man with a knife at the Super Socks store at 154 Harvard Ave. in Brighton. Perdomo Hernandez, 38, of 784 Massachusetts Ave. in Boston, as well as an unidentified accomplice, reportedly assaulted and pushed the store manager repeatedly after he allegedly approached the suspect for shoplifting from a display table. The store manager reportedly asked Hernandez — who was heavily intoxicated at the time according to police reports — to leave the store, which he refused to do.
Upon arriving at the scene, the responding patrolman attempted to escort Hernandez from the premises, but he reportedly refused. Hernandez was subsequently arrested. A 3 three-inch knife without a handle was found on Hernandez during booking and was seized as evidence.
