A female told the Boston University Police Department last week she was held down and sexually assaulted Oct. 20 after leaving a bar in Kenmore Square with two men who offered her drugs.
The victim said after she entered the bar, the two white men approached her and offered her drugs. She then voluntarily left with them in a black SUV, but did not know where she was driven around. She was “held down and sexually assaulted” at some point, according to the Oct. 25 BUPD report.
The incident follows a string of sexual assaults in and around the BU community from Kenmore Square to Ashford Street. Most of the recent assaults have been reported by victims a few days after they occurred.
Since Sept. 2 there have been four other assaults reported to the BUPD, the most recent being a female visitor to BU who said she was sexually assaulted in a Warren Towers bathroom Sept. 30. Although the investigation is ongoing, no suspects have been named, and the police have no leads but have twice publicly asked Warren residents to come forward with any information.
After each assault, university officials and police have discussed ways to prevent sexual assaults. Safety suggestions on the BUPD website include not consuming drugs and alcohol and leaving a situation when it becomes uncomfortable. The police also stress the importance of being mindful of safety at all times.
“[Let’s] continue to have conversations about these issues, and be mindful of these things,” said Dean of Students Kenneth Elmore in an Oct. 19 Daily Free Press article. “Let’s not wait for a crisis moment to take our safety seriously.”
