I would like to applaud Jonah Kaplan for writing that wonderful perspective about the disgraceful behavior of Red Sox fans whenever their team wins anything (“A ‘hateful’ Nation does not know how to appreciate victory,” Oct. 31, p. 5). There are other people in Boston who don’t want their property destroyed regardless of what the city’s baseball team has accomplished. I speak of course of those whose cars have been tipped or set ablaze, those whose windows have been shattered and those who have been constantly harassed by belligerently intoxicated bandwagon, college-student Red Sox fans.
Baseball players are expected to conduct themselves with class. Baseball fans should be held to no lower standard. Bravo, Jonah Kaplan, bravo!
