I have a question for Erin Souza who wrote the article”On Broadway takes Caberet off broadway.” Did you actually see the show? Yes, I agree with you that there were “Women wearing corsets and fishnet stockings alongside usually topless men” but if you had seen any of the show, even the Broadway version, you would have realized that sex and nudity isn’t the point of it at all. Cabaret (which is spelled with an A not an E) is a reflection upon the horrors of the holocaust. This is hauntingly portrayed through the sometimes disturbing acts of a German Cabaret which, parallels the lives of three Germans and one American prior to the second world war. I failed to see any of this mentioned in your “article”. I happened to be blessed with the opportunity to be involved in this show, which I hope is worth more then just the flash of some bras and panties. To me, it was so beyond that. I also took pride in the fact that our production, like all BUOB productions, was completely student run. Everything from the direction, choreography, set, sound ,and music was completed by students during their free time. Most of these kids have nothing to do with the College of Fine Arts and they still produce such fantastic stuff. This to me is so amazing that I’m surprised it was barely mentioned. I appreciate the Daily Free Press for sending someone to recognize our group but hope that the next show we do is more correctly represented and reported.
