For nearly nine decades, America has undeniably been the most powerful country in the world. We held hard power — military and economic leverage — with a terrifyingly strong and intact military from the end of the Second World War through the Cold War to today with an insane amount of defense spending.
We currently vote with the first-past-the-post plurality voting system. Its biggest flaw was a high source of discussion during the 2024 presidential election — the spoiler effect, where a candidate destined to lose, such as Jill Stein or Robert F. Kennedy Jr., could affect the results of the election by pulling votes from actual, possible candidates.

All in all, I like where Democratic leadership is going. But, that hopefulness must be ruined. Because while strategists are making good decisions at the top, the people at the bottom have been nothing short of insufferable.
Thus, I absolutely reject any fence-sitters. Any sentiment at all that both parties are equally bad, or that neither represents any of American constituents’ interests is a blatant disregard for the country’s problems. It’s entirely founded upon a position of privilege, expecting some miraculous force to solve all sufferings.
Not only do echoes of America reverberate throughout the world, as heard in places like in Argentina and Canada, but trade wars and tensions are directly affecting citizens as their governments choose to participate in lose-lose fights.
Some of my fellow Americans actively want my minority friends out of the country, my girl friends dead, my queer friends converted, my education stunted. I used to hold Republican voters to a higher standard, but evidently, I can’t anymore.
Piker alone isn’t the problem. While he does spread hateful, anti-American, pro-terrorist rhetoric and pro-enemy state propaganda to his followers, his reach doesn’t extend to all of the far-left. In fact, Piker’s thoughts and actions are merely emblematic of this group.
Trump is not fit to be president. He attempted a coup, and Americans died because of it. He bred distrust in our system, distrust we’re still feeling today. He committed treason, yet he still walks free as the Republican nominee to become President of the United States.
Whether it’s the newest uncoverings of political figures in sex scandals, or Donald Trump wrapped up in a multimillion-dollar fraud suit just weeks before Election Day, these stories serve as nothing but disturbing and alarming. So, why don’t we flip the script? Allow me to introduce you to someone unproblematic, hard-working and a genuine actor for the interests of American people — Lina Khan, Chairwoman of the Federal Trade Commission.
But what has made the last four months so unique? Without a doubt, the past few years could go down in American history as their own era — and let it be on the record that I think these years should be named the “Unprecedented Era.”
