Mayor Michelle Wu announced an allocation of $40 million to create 718 affordable housing units across the city of Boston as part of her housing justice plan to reduce housing discrimination.
It is important to acknowledge that Boston’s nightlife — just as any social structure dominating public life — is regulated by systemic racism that prevents everyone from having equal access to a care-free night.
We don’t exactly know how increasing permanent remote work will impact the workforce — though it certainly comes with a number of risks and faults. But if employers can implement healthy practices and anticipate the technological needs of their employees, it could be an evolution for the better.
Rather than attaching a label to young children, we could invest in a schoolwide enrichment model that is available to all students, allowing for more equitable and healthy academic growth.
With Mayor Marty Walsh soon to leave office and serve as Labor Secretary under the Biden administration, our city’s leadership must begin to address the difficulties we are left with. We must continue to hold our elected officials to their promises and push Boston to become a city that doesn’t thrive off of inequalities but rather fosters communities of growth and equality.
Through this series, I will argue that slavery is still a real institution that exists both abroad and domestically. Although it doesn’t behave in the same ways it did in the past, the beast of slavery has evolved in different ways around the world.
Recognizing the differing levels of education between schools is the first step in solving the issue that busing tried, and mostly failed, to correct. Then, we must follow it with fully realized action to level the playing field and provide a brighter future for all Americans.
