Staying true to your style doesn’t mean you can’t have fun this summer. By taking some extra steps this summer, you will ensure your own comfort in the heat and make sure that your vintage pieces last a lifetime.

While Newbury Street is known for drawing in large crowds on weekends, a line of shoppers took over the sidewalk as they waited for Vivant Vintage’s new location to officially open March 1.  Justin Pomerleau, owner and CEO of Vivant Vintage, opened the business’s flagship store in Lower Allston in 2014. Opening a location on Newbury Street has always been a dream of his. 

The afternoon sun streams in through the eyelet cotton curtains, coating the room in a warm amber glow. A collage of clothing items lies on the pink and green patchwork comforter: A few stray scarves, two woolen army hats, a small children’s shirt embroidered with multicolored cross-stitching. These are items my grandma would take out to show me while we wait for her friends to arrive for a game of Mahjong.

October is here, which means it’s about time to start planning your Halloween costumes. Even if you prefer to be a little more covered up on Halloween, you don’t want to be uncomfortable while going out on the town or watching a spooky movie with your friends.

I was wearing a navy, sleeveless Gunne Sax prairie dress that brushed my legs just above the ankles when my friend told me a girl had given me the rudest look.  The dress has a delicate floral pattern all over, with blue velvet ribbons and delicate pearl buttons on the bodice. I love this dress. It’s one of the few Gunne Sax pieces I’ve found that doesn’t require the wearer to be taller than 5-foot-6 and have a bra size below a B cup.
