Despite residents’ complaints of loud noises and bright lights, the Warren Towers renovation project continues. The project, currently in its main phase, remains on schedule to be completed by summer 2028.

Over the summer, crews completed the scaffolding wrap around Tower A, foundation improvements for Tower B and a water retention basin on Hinsdale Mall over.
The exterior and interior of Tower A are currently being renovated, and construction of the tower will continue throughout the semester.
The renovations will continue to take place tower by tower. Tower A, and the Warren Towers dining hall, are estimated to be completed by fall 2026, followed by construction of Tower B and Tower C. Each tower is completed in a 15-month renovation period.
There have been no reported delays in construction, Riley said, but there may be unanticipated costs due to tariffs or supplies.
Due to the construction, students living in the other two Warren towers have reported disturbances from noise and light coming from Tower A.
On the weekdays, construction occurs 24 hours a day and on weekends from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Junior Demetris Owens, a Warren Tower B resident, said the construction noise, specifically the drilling, has repeatedly disrupted her sleep.
Owens said she and another girl on her floor woke up at 4 a.m. to drilling noises.
Tower B resident freshman Claire Hayashi said she had to buy new curtains due to the “really bright” overnight construction lights.
Hayashi said the loud noise is “annoying” and also disrupts her sleep.
“We just wish the construction started later [in the morning],” she said. “It’s so loud because our window is right next to the construction.”
Owens said the Warren renovation is “way overdue,” and living in such an outdated building is “frustrating.”
The building’s age and outdated systems made the renovations necessary, Riley said.
“[Warren Towers] has been around more than 50, 60 years,” he said. “It needed to be updated and improved.”
