Campus Crime Logs: Wheels on Wheels

The following reports were taken from the Boston University Police Department crime logs from Oct. 18 to Oct. 25.

Police received reports of suspicious behavior on Babcock Street at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday. A witness said someone in a blue Grand Dame Oldsmobile got out of the car and took the wheels from bicycles locked up on a rack. The witness reported seeing the thief flee the area in the car.

Theft at the Theater

A student at the Boston Playwright’s Theater at 949 Commonwealth Ave. reported that he went to a play at 7 p.m. on Oct. 22. After the play ended, he found that his $2,500 MacBook was stolen.

The Not So Groovy Groove Tube

BUPD was told a dorm room on 273 Babcock St. smelled like marijuana at 9:45 p.m. on Thursday. Police arrived at the scene and found two students in the room. No marijuana was found, but police did find a plastic bottle with drier sheets inside and traces of brown marijuana resin. The bottle was confiscated and the students were taken to BU’s Office of Judicial Affairs.

Come on Baby Light My Fire

On Friday at 2:30 p.m., police and the Boston Fire Department were called to Rich Hall. Two students were playing with a towel and a lighter when the towel caught on fire. The students then dropped the towel on the ground, which lit the carpet on fire, damaging the dorm and sounding the fire alarm.

Nacho Bike

A student reported seeing her stolen bike listed for sale on Craigslist last Monday. The bicycle was stolen from 736 Commonwealth Ave. BU detectives are working on the case.
