Authorities recovered a body from the Charles River Monday morning, Massachusetts State Police officials said.
State police officials sent a marine unit to recover the body after the Boston University Police Department called in about a body in the water at about 8:15 a.m., said state police spokesman Todd Nolan.
Nolan said preliminary investigations indicate the body is that of an “older white male.”
The Massachusetts state troopers who are assigned to the Suffolk District Attorney will investigate the incident, Nolan said.

UPDATE: Investigators are continuing to identify the middle-aged male, whose remains were transported to the State Police Marine Unit, according to an email statement from the Suffolk District Attorney’s office.
Some time after 8:00 a.m. on Monday morning, two employees of the Boston University Sailing Pavilion spotted the body in the water and notified the BUPD, according to the statement.
A medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death, which was not immediately clear.
Although the search continues for missing Boston Architectural College graduate student Jonathan Dailey, Suffolk DA spokesman Jake Wark confirmed the body was not that of any missing college student.
