The dangerous normalization of cheating

What you consume shapes what you believe — unless you consciously filter it. When cheating becomes a recurring trope, people begin to internalize it as “not that deep” — but it really is that deep. A relationship is supposed to be built on choosing one person and committing to grow with them. If you’re really unhappy and you can’t work it out, leave. What you don’t do is keep someone as a backup while you explore other options.

I’m kidding, but it's important to remember why we sometimes make generalizations as a society. Not all bees will sting you, but still we’re scared of bees. We don’t say, “only some bees will sting you”  because that’s a given — it’s redundant. In that same way, no one really means all men are trash. Not all men are the same as Mr. Big.

Administration, please keep our mental health and mounting stress in mind as we head into the new year. If you could sprinkle in a few extra holidays — possibly even a snow day — maybe we could all once again get that familiar rush of warmth at the thought of getting just one extra day to take a breath.
