Local election officials announced the presidential election results for Massachusetts shortly after the polls closed on Tuesday, but this outcome will not be official for nearly two weeks.
Blind and visually impaired voters can access electronic ballots, special voting machines and help from a family member or friend to exercise their suffrage in Massachusetts.
Massachusetts residents who die after voting early in this year’s election will still have their ballots counted. The temporary law will make tallying more efficent, so results should be ready by the night of the election.
Early voting began in Massachusetts Monday and will be open to all registered voters until Nov. 2. This is the second election cycle for which the state has implemented early voting, the first being in the 2016 presidential election.
City Council unanimously adopted a resolution Wednesday that would oppose President Donald Trump’s proposal to have federal Secret Service agents patrolling polling locations during the November elections. The bill was proposed by Josh Zakim, a city councilor who represents neighborhoods like Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Fenway and Kenmore Square. He called Trump’s action “an outrageous scare tactic, meant only to intimidate people.”
