Song of the Year is technically a songwriting award, and I’m sure there is more deliberation that goes into these nominations than I could imagine. Still, I wish to ignore the rules just for today and take you through a few songs that didn’t get nominated for any Grammys but were definitely some of my songs of the year.
When the lights dropped after the openers’ — Blood Orange and The Japanese House — performances, the energy in the room shifted drastically. The rumble of "Hammer" filled the venue, and then the woman of the hour stepped out, wearing ripped mid-wash jeans slouched over visible Calvin Klein boxers and a navy cropped tee, with her hair loose in her face.
Whether you're traveling somewhere warm, heading home or staying in Boston, I want to encourage everyone — no matter how busy you might still be — to take spring break as an opportunity to do the same as me and take some time for yourself. Last week, one of my friends reached out to me about her nerves surrounding going abroad next semester. She’s excited and knows it is the right decision for her, but she’s also nervous about being away for so long.
I’ve been thinking a lot about studying abroad in the future, too. Leaving the country can evoke competing emotions — anticipation for a new adventure, but also a fear of the unknown. Not to mention, it can be scary leaving a lot of relationships back in Boston.
