The individual can and should be accountable for their own waste whenever possible — taking shorter showers, reducing consumption, learning more about recycling, etc. But the brunt of the work has to be done by the government and by large corporations because they’re the ones who have the power to actualize real, immediate and impactful change.
With Mayor Marty Walsh soon to leave office and serve as Labor Secretary under the Biden administration, our city’s leadership must begin to address the difficulties we are left with. We must continue to hold our elected officials to their promises and push Boston to become a city that doesn’t thrive off of inequalities but rather fosters communities of growth and equality.
Boston is a city rich with diverse backgrounds and culture. It deserves to be served by those who appreciate these attributes instead of diminishing them down to a joke.
Massachusetts public officials discussed possible solutions to the student loan crisis, including free public college and forgiving loans, during a panel Wednesday evening. The panelists said graduating in debt was an unavoidable reality.
