BU on Broadway took to the stage for a one-night performance of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” with proceeds benefiting the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition.

George Mendes, executive chef of Amar restaurant in Back Bay, joined his two passions — cooking and giving back — to host a fundraiser dinner for Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island Feb. 25.
Emerson students and creative soulmates Gianna Cavarozzi and Lyanna Zammas co-wrote and co-directed a dark, witty exploration of power, corruption and masculinity — seen through a distinctly feminine lens. This 44 minute short film transcends the expectations of a student project with the transformative power of women-led storytelling by its women-run crew.
For The Daily Free Press’ Board of Directors, Spring 2021 was a semester marked by a vast fundraising effort, continued efforts to improve the diversity of our staff, and work to further connect our community. Working remotely with the addition of four new members from our Fall 2020 Editorial Board, the Board met weekly to discuss all things FreeP-related.
A “temporarily closed” sign was posted on Chipotle’s door early last week. The sign did not indicate why the restaurant was closed or an exact date it would reopen.
Overall, the efforts BU has made on GivingTuesday should still be recognized. But, the administration should remember that in order for its fundraising to make a genuine impact, it first and foremost needs to demonstrate transparency and accountability.
Sustainability and international activism are more relevant than ever in the 21st century, yet the impact of voluntourism — international volunteering — is less discussed.
