Media polarization is a threat to democracy

The rise of “fake news” is nothing new — it’s been increasing since Trump’s first campaign in 2016. Repetition of the phrase has numbed and confused audiences to its meaning and caused Americans to distrust the media overall. Undecided voters no longer know what outlets to consult for complete, true information about candidates, and this uncertainty affects voter turnout.

Falling out of love sucks, and no, I don’t mean with a significant other or a friend. I’m talking about falling out of love with celebrities you once worshiped. Throughout the past year or so, the facade surrounding some of my favorite singers and celebrities has fallen, which caused me to re-examine the way that I interact with the music and media that I consume.

Social media cleanse: Healthy or unhelpful?

On the night of Dec. 21, 2023, I conducted my usual routine. I took a shower, brushed my teeth, did my skincare, cried hysterically and crawled into bed to watch TikToks until my eyes burned from exhaustion, or what some call “winding down.” That was until I remembered what my dad told me earlier that day about taking some time off of social media.
