BU professor develops affordable, flexible wireless MRI coils, named among TIME’s ‘Best Inventions of 2025’

Boston University Distinguished Professor of Engineering Xin Zhang and her students at the Laboratory of Microsystems Technologies designed and built bendable wireless coil sensors that attach directly to the body, weigh less than an AA battery and cost only $50.  In October, TIME released their “Best Inventions of 2025” issue, which featured 300 impactful new scientific products and ideas, including Zhang’s Wireless MRI Coils under the “Experimental” category.
