A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Boston University Shuttle bus in Boston’s South End neighborhood Monday morning, according to Boston Police Department.

Around 7:58 a.m., BPD responded to a radio call for a motor vehicle accident near 774 Albany St. on BU Medical Campus, BPD Officer Michael Torigian wrote in an email to The Daily Free Press.
Detectives from BPD’s Homicide Unit and members of its Fatal Collision Investigation Team arrived at the scene to find the pedestrian trapped beneath the vehicle. The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead on the scene, Torigian wrote. Roads were closed on Albany Street between Northampton Street and Mass. Ave. in both directions, according to NBC Boston. The Massachusetts Avenue Connector going inbound to Boston Medical Center also briefly closed.
BU students received a BU Alert at 8:39 a.m., informing them of a “traffic accident” at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Albany Street on BUMC.
The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made, Torigian wrote.
The streets have since reopened to traffic and pedestrians, according to a second BU Alert sent to students at 12:30 p.m.
“It’s a terrible tragedy,” BU Spokesperson Colin Riley said. “We feel awful about the person whose life is lost.”
