Wednesday, Sept. 17

BU men’s club soccer reaches draw with NU, 1-1

The BU men’s club soccer team faced off against Northeastern University in a physical match Wednesday night at Nickerson Field. The game was filled with multiple fouls, with both squads receiving two yellow cards during the course of play. After the Huskies jumped out to a 1-0 lead, the Terriers responded, as forward H-Soba Vincent found the back of the net to knot the game at 1-1. The score would remain deadlocked as time expired.

Friday, Sept. 19

BU club ice hockey falls to BSU, 3-1

The BU club ice hockey team opened its season with a 3-1 loss at the hands of Bridgewater State University. The Terriers struggled with maintaining their composure during the game, as the team took multiple penalties, including a game ejection. Sophomore defenseman Noah Friedman was responsible for BU’s lone goal, with assists on the score coming from fellow blueliner Ben Messick and junior forward Matt Ruiz.

Saturday, Sept. 20

BU club ice hockey trumps QU, 6-1

The BU club ice hockey team bounced back in a major way in its next game Saturday afternoon against Quinnipiac University, scoring six goals en route to a 6-1 victory. Leading the way for BU were new additions to the team in Scott Woods and Michael Matos — who each accounted for three points.

BU club cricket defeated by MIT, 194-122

The BU club cricket team was defeated by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon at New Balance Field. The Terriers won the opening toss and chose to bowl first, allowing MIT to post a total of 194 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. BU’s batsmen started off strong, moving along 10 runs an over for their first five overs. Ultimately, the Terriers were unable to keep up the momentum, finishing with 122 runs.

Sunday, Sept. 21

BU men’s club water polo captures win over Metro Masters, 8-7

The BU men’s club water polo team grinded out an 8-7 win over the Metro Masters in a scrimmage Sunday night. BU was paced offensively by senior Drew Mutafyan, graduate student Curtis Hon and junior Josh McDonough — each of whom registered two goals in the match. Junior Kevin Chu accounted for BU’s only score in the fourth quarter, giving the Terriers a lead they would not give up.

BU men’s club soccer decimates Brandeis, 9-2

The BU men’s club soccer team made a big statement Sunday evening at Nickerson Field, besting Brandeis University in a 9-2 blowout. The Terriers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half due to scores from senior midfielder Peter Luce and sophomore Isaac Dashefsky. After letting up two goals to start the second half, the Terriers recorded seven straight scores, with Luce completing a hat trick with two additional goals. Senior midfielder Alec Trantas, senior Santiago Martinez (two goals), graduate student Rahotep Alkebulan and sophomore defender Edo Ohayon rounded out the list of BU scorers in the match.

BU men’s club rugby bested by United States Coast Guard Academy, 48-12

The BU men’s club rugby team was defeated by the United States Coast Guard Academy, 48-12, in a road tilt in New London, Connecticut. After a scoreless 30 minutes of play, the Coast Guard jumped out to a 24-0 lead at the start of the second half. The Terriers cut the lead to 24-12 thanks to tries from junior prop Fernando Torres and center Ryan Incognoli. Ultimately, BU’s comeback attempt went for naught, as the Coast Guard earned the home victory.
