Plagiarism | Doctor’s Orders

Dear Doctors,

One of my classmates won an academic award for an article that I know he plagiarized. It doesn’t sit right with me. What should I do?

Sincerely,

Perplexed

Dear Perplexed,

You could approach him directly and tell him that you know what he did. This will give him the opportunity to do the right thing. If he does not, then you are morally obligated to report him for academic dishonesty.

Best Wishes,

Fishstick

Dear Perplexed,

No one likes a rat. Then again, you could probably talk him into paying you $100 to keep your mouth shut.

Cheers!

  1. Dear Perplexed,
I would share with the person that I was aware of their breach of ethics and suggest doing the right thing by returning the award. I would not report it. Karma is a bitch and will always return in some way or another.
